Red Coris Wrass...Dangerous ?

So I brought a juvenile red coris wrass for my 55g yesterday after the LFS owner told me he was reef-safe. I happily put him into the tank then went to my in-laws for Mother’s Day. When I was at my in-laws, I went online and almost had a heart attack. Many sites say they require at least 100g, they are very aggressive, they will eat my hermit crab and shrimp (cleaner shrimp? Fire shrimp?), scallop (fire scallop?) and worst of all, red coris wrass are NOT reef safe. UNBELIEVABLE! When I came home, I can’t find him anywhere! This morning, still not around! What should I do? Remove everything in my tank and dig around the sand bed for this guy and return him to the store? Any body owns a red coris wrass in their reef tank? PLEASE PLEASE HELP!

Always do your research...

They do get to in excess of 16", they aren't reef safe, they aren't invert safe, They do like to move around rockwork...

But they sure are purty ;)
