Astyanax
Hi gang: So in my new 1.6 gallon pico, I'm still cycling. But I've noticed much more life recently. Now I'm seeing a couple tiny creatures that I don't think are amphipods judging from the pictures, but you be the judge. They look like 1/4"-long roly-poly bugs (pillbugs), with lots of legs and they move pretty fast. They hug the ground or the rock, and when I turn on the lights they go digging, almost like sand crabs at the beach. While they're whitish in the underside, they're a very dark brown on the top "shell" part. Any ideas what I'm dealing with here? Thanks! Astyanax Link to comment
rmhuntley
sounds like some sort of isopod Link to comment
Astyanax
Yes, I would say so, I just didn't know they could be a common thing in a reef! UPDATE: Okay, I did some reading here on the forums, and yes, I'd definitely day it's an isopod. Now gotta see if I can determine which kind! This one seems to be a digger, more than a swimmer!
