Auryn Posted April 21, 2005 Share Posted April 21, 2005 I feel like such a bum i ask so many questions thankfully you all are incredibly nice ive looked this up but havent found anything that really matches what i have I got an awesome piece of lr today (might be might last one- tank getting kinda full) anyway went to put it in the tank tonight and there were some soft gooey like patches on the rock theres tons of orange/red corraline growth on it and things that i would describe like polyp bases - main reason i got it- all the cool stuff growing on it but then you have small patches of this soft gooey stuff a bit purplish in color kinda grossed me out when i picked it up anyone know what im talking about ?? what is it? the rock was cured for 2 weeks at the store- doesnt smell bad or anything Link to comment

Auryn Posted April 21, 2005 Author Share Posted April 21, 2005 the things i referred to as looking like polyp bases look like this http://www.wetwebmedia.com/lridfaq3.htm but brown (last pic on the right- second row) the gooey stuff honestly i dont know how to discribe it it kinda feels like the gooy substance on some sponges - like when u go scuba diving and accidentaly touch one w/ no gloves not slimey like algea on tide pool rocks kinda like touching a little piece of wet jello coloration is a tad lilac just looked at it in the tank and you cant really see it underwater though in the morning i will see if i can get a pic of it Link to comment
