ross76053
Saw this cool little guy this afternoon slowly, very slowly moving across a piece of live rock. Knowing there are thousands of worm species, anyone know what this is? Link to comment
printerdown01
I'm tempted to just say "bristle worm" lol. Truth be told that is what it is, but the group of true "bristle worms" is HUGE! It is about as descriptive as "shrimp" or "crab." I'd be interested in the ID too, this guy looks pretty cool! Link to comment
harbingerofthefish
worm sherm... what's that chicken foot looking thing growing out of your GSPs? Link to comment
Dave ESPI
donno worm, but the "chicken foot thingie" is perhaps a dead / bleached form of a red/pink coraline algae in the Gracilaria family, or Amphiroda family of Macro algae. HTH ??? Link to comment
hhasty79
It looks quite a lot like a chiton, but I can't see how long it is. If there are more than 8 segments, it's not. Link to comment
Dave ESPI
I have to disagree with the chiton concept. look at the fringes around the segments, it looks like calcium spicules as a bristle worm would have. Ross can you poke it? is it mushy or hard? Link to comment
hhasty79
Um, I have a chiton with two rows of bristles A better pic would help tho, yes Link to comment
Fant
I still think its a chiton Link to comment
ross76053
The little guy is very mushy and has no bristles. Next time he shows himself, I'll get a better pic. Link to comment
