NetSurge
Ive had this coral for about 2weeks now and its doing alright. I know i bought it with out reading up first but its at least its doing better at my place than at the LFS. But i noticed a small pea sized rock about 3 in. from the main coral that has a few polyps (4) on it. Did my gonipoua split? What could this be? Just a chip or soemthing? It dosent look like a peice of it broke off. I dont have a camera handy right now to post a pic but i was wondering what this could be. Link to comment
RandyO
I would doubt it split a frag 3" from home, probably a hitchhiker or something you knocked loose inside your tank Link to comment
Tomaso_Pantera
Goniopora reproduce by "dripping" small colonies off of the mother colony. If it looks like a baby gony. Gues what...... Good husbandry! Link to comment
Paulc
When the polyps shrink back into the skeleton at night, have a look at it's surface. If you see small bumps that are spherical it is reproducing by a process know as budding. If this continues in the long term it suggests the conditions in your tank are obviously good for the coral.
