Alexraptor
Ok i bought some new live rock a few days ago and on it i have a pair of anemones, they seem very hardy cause theyve survived transport home and rapid water fluctuations too(in a seperate tank) so i was wondering what kind of anemone they are. Bobby417919
It looks to me as if it were a Shroom not anemone. But that is me. Robert, Link to comment
Doc Shake
Those are the rare anemone Incontenita bottox, found only around Suwarrow Atoll in the Cook Islands, worth about 500$ each. I think they are hairy mushrooms. Link to comment
Alexraptor
they seem to have stubby anemone like tentacles but very short Link to comment
jenniebutterfly
yeah looks like hairy shrooms to me too. Link to comment
yoshiod9
ohhhh!!!! doc's got jokes! lol. they look like 'hairy mushrooms' mr. piranha...they'll grow to have an oral disc of about 6 inches! quite large...but they are pretty darn hardy as well. Link to comment
Alexraptor
so they are anemones? Link to comment
yoshiod9
no, they're called false anemones(corallimorphs...AKA mushrooms). the common name for what you have are called hairy mushrooms. the scientific name is rhodactis sp. Link to comment
Doc Shake
no, they are in the order Corallimorpharia. They are kind of like anemones, but are sessile. Link to comment
scentfaerie
If I were you I would sell them Link to comment
Doc Shake
Sell them? Why? I have 4 in my tank, they look cool under good light. Link to comment
yoshiod9
i think scent is assuming the tank is newly set up...i'm not too sure what the deal is though so......whatever! =) Link to comment
