sps in the new tank...... a few Qs

besides the obvious need for high light, what do sps corals need?

The reason I ask is I am starting a new tank and I am trying to decide weather or not I am going to try to keep SPS corals or not. Initally I really didn't like them because they didn't move and I thopught they were kinda boring, but the color is amazing!

So what do they need besides Good light and Good flow and obviously aclcium?

** I ask because I am starting a new 72 gallon bowfront and I'm going with at least 2x250w mh pendants (and possibly a few PCs or VHO) just because I like the way tanks that are lit with MH better than PC or VHO...... it like the shimmer.

I know it's not a nano tank, but the people that post here have the best looking coral in general I've seen at any forum.

So, any suggestions on what I need to consider before trying SPS; and if anyone knows, are 2x250w MH pendants going to be enpugh to keep SPS?

thanks in advance for responses!

LOTS of flow...30x minimum.

2x250w should be fine. I plan to have 2x250w DE Hqi plus 2x39w T5 actinics over my 67g.

Definitely get a good skimmer...they require pristine water quality. and stable and sufficient calcium and alkalinity.
