agent1923
I just had a quick question about copper treatment of fish. I am aware of the devastating effects of copper on inverts and that it is very hard to clean up. My question is if you treat a fish with copper in a quarantine tank and place it back into the nano, does the fish itself not carry traces of copper? If it does, is this level of copper dangerous to the reef tank and its inhabitants? Link to comment
bradarmi
That's an interesting question. Heavy metals such as mercury will incorporate into the tissue of fish, that's why the FDA recommends that pregnant women not eat freshwater (Great Lake) fish. BUT, the heavy metals are released when the fish are eaten, I don't know if the fish is "tainted" after Copper treatment. What exactly are you trying to treat? Have you thought about a freshwater dip if the parasite is external? Link to comment
