Foogoo
I currently have a 55 watt smartlight roughly diy'ed on my 10 gallon nano. I was thinking of increasing the wattage but the ballast only supports up to 72 watts and I would have to redo my "hood". Do you guys think I should suck it up and diy (what are some good/cheap ballasts?) or just buy one (brand?) Link to comment
Caesar
why do you want more than 72 watts on a 10 gallon tank? Link to comment
Djm9288
more coral types, that require higgher wattages. I have 96 watts Link to comment
Mnesarchus
My lighting in DIY on my 10g. I got the ballast from a lighting wholesaler for about $20, compared to the price at an LFS, thats a sweet deal. Just remember not to get the ballast wet and it'll be fine. I am mounting mine in a melt-proof tupper-ware type box with the wires coming out a hole in the top. I hot glued the hole so the thing is completley waterproof. Oh yeah, I have 2 x 55w on my 10g. tgrupert
also I would recomend using a lot of silicon on electrical connections. with enough silicon you could use hardware store endcaps. Link to comment
