Tiny Spiral Snails

Not sure what these are, have done a search and come up with inconclusive answers. Not sure if they are babies or if they are simply pint sized for life. Just added the LR to my 24g nano cube yesterday, and the snails started showing up yesterday on the glass and black wall, so far only about 5 at a time max, but i'm sure there is probably more. If anyone can point me in the right direction about these, it would be greatly appreciated.

Could be Pyramid snails. I have seen some say that they die without a clam hosts, but also read somewhere that they like snails (wish I could find that posting). I received some as hh and they seem to like my other snails, so I remove them to keep them in check: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthre...ight=rice+snail

Found it:

Pyramidellid Snails

These small parasitic snails are often found on Tridacnnid clams, and occasionally on other reef aquarium animals, such as snails. They reproduce well in aquaria and they can grow rapidly to reproductive size. In effect they can have very substantial population explosions if not kept in check or eradicated. In nature they are probably an irritant on their hosts, but in an aquarium they may become so abundant that they will kill their hosts: clams, snails or feather duster worms. Some fish, such as six-lined wrasses are said to eat them, but examination and manual removal, is often the best way to eliminate them. If your system gets infected by them, large numbers may be found and the potential hosts should be regularly checked and cleaned of the parasites.

Good luck!

Whoa! Thank goodness for you! I have noticed one of these in my tank recently. Never seen it move, but it's always on a different spot on the rock, so I knew it was alive!

Thanks for the info! He's getting a baster-removal tonight!

There seem to be a lot off different species of little spiral snails. Some eat clams, some snails, some are algae eaters. I'd do a search on it over on Reefcentral it's come up quite a few times.
