firebolt_cal
Hi, I have added my live rock last Sunday have lot's of stuff on it ..but I have quite few of these white/clear blob things and out of the middle of them they send out a long line with fine hair/strands then they quickly pull them back in, the strands are quite long up to about 30cm and they move around the tank. Can anyone tell me what they are? Thanks Link to comment
Prunfarm
I think you're speaking of a type of "worm" that sends out sticky arms in order to catch food. Almost like spider silk right? Link to comment
Doriftu
is it like this? if so its a digitate or finger like hydroid Link to comment
firebolt_cal
Yes, It's like spiders silk and long and on each strand there is often more branchs, they move around the tank. It's kind of like the photo but with more brances off the main strand Thanks Link to comment

Korbin
I thought so, that was my post on RC As far as I know, they're reef safe. But could multiply fast. Mine did. Link to comment
reef hugger
Those may not be as reef safe as you think. Here is an article by Sprung that at a school he visited, they were having Discosoma sp. dying off in a tank that was infested with these hydroids. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/jun...2003/invert.htm Link to comment
