Talonfighter25 Posted February 8, 2005 Share Posted February 8, 2005 Iam gonna make a fuge that is half and half....i used a 5 gal bucket with it being seperated in the middle. One side is bioballs and the other would contain macroalgae. Do i need to put in a substrate for the macro side? Is it necessary for other algae to grow?? Link to comment
jenniebutterfly Posted February 8, 2005 Share Posted February 8, 2005 having substrate gives something for the pods and other life to live in and on. the point of a fuge is for pod growth and nutrient export. i would not even bother with the bioballs, they are imo nitrate factories. get some good live sand and some live rock and macro and you will be fine.
