Plumbing a New 10g Fuge & Skimmer

Hi All,

 

I am new to the forum, but have been at FOWLR for 5 or so years. I am converting to reef in stages. Got the light, sand, ro/di unit. Now it is time for a REAL skimmer and fuge. So, here goes:

 

I have seen the posts here on how to build a fuge (very, VERY helpful - thank you). I was planning on building a skimmer also, similar to this one:

Here is how I thought I would plumb the thing:

 

Overflow box --> skimmer intake -->skimmer output -->sump in. Follow fuge plans from there.

 

Because the skimmer does not have a motor and is gravity driven, so I need to worry about placement height? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
