rhs
I didn't believe it until I saw it myself, but this red algae thing began growing out of the live rock. It's actually quite attractive, but looks like it could take over the tank. Can anyone identify it or advise on how to treat it ? Should it be trimmed or removed altogether ? Link to comment
jenniebutterfly
looks like good macro algae, i love the look of it, if you like it keep it you can always trim it so it does not take over your tank, but i think it is very pretty, adds some nice color Link to comment

yoshiod9
i think it's some variation of valona(spelling may be wrong)...bubble algae variation in laymans terms. Link to comment

rhs
Yes, that's the x-mas tree. Does anyone else have other information on the red algae ? Link to comment
brianemone
harmless imo, mine grows very slowly (only 1mm a month) yours seems to be a different variety Link to comment
melcolm
Trim it...keep it. It will rob any other pesky algae of nutrients. Keep it trimmed though, it's robbing the rest of your tank of some light. Link to comment

Simms142
I have sargassum in my tank and it is really nice to look at due to my minimal corals. Grew from a tiny red bud on the rock and is now 8inches or so with the biggest one Link to comment
