rodsboys
It is pretty normal. It is a sign that they have been eating well.I had 2 false percs for 9 months and added a 3rd one.I never noticed the color change until then. The new one was very orange. My other 2 were pretty dark compared to it.Almost like a red/orange.The fish don't eat a steady or good diet in transit/holding conditions.Once at your home and in a regular routine/diet they begin to color up. jthyge
But its only on the back of the fish... And its kind of getting black! Not just dark red.. Link to comment
Travis
Maybe you don't have a A. Occ. but a A. Percula. Percs usually get black in between the stripes. Link to comment
jaykay
Its natural for clowns to get darker. Thats why pet stores only sell small ones. Link to comment
SaltyDawg
Yup they have pronounced seperated color lines when young and evolve in to larger bands of irregular striping that is much darker then that of a juvenile. Link to comment
reefsrule
are they kind of like lines or dots? Mine has the same thing, they are acclimation stings when they try to host something Link to comment
jthyge
It dont host in anything, i try to take a pic. But its not easy when its moving around... :-) Link to comment
sunnysmom
The largest clown in the tank (or the only clown) will get darker on the back end as it becomes the dominant female. Link to comment
