dppitone
Hi, I have a tank used solely to propogate algae to feed my tangs. I was thinking of dividing it and breeding something for my wrasses to feed on. The wrasse tank is fish only, with live rock, some caulerpa and some damsels. I am knew to the wrasses. I read that they hunt down and feed on pyramidellid snails. Is this true? And, if so, I was thinking of breeding the snails in the algae tank. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? And if it is a good idea, does anyone know where I can get some pyramidellid snails to start breeding with? Thanks very much . . . Dave Link to comment
reef hugger
IMO, it would be a waste of time. If the wrasses are eating other foods why bother trying to feed them unwanted pests. If the wrasse only fed on those snails then that would be a different matter but since they don't, I wouldn't even try. About them eating pyramidellid snails, this is true to some extent but because fish have different prefernces not all wrasses listed as eating those snails will do so. Link to comment
Duke13
Six-line Wrasses will eat Pyramid Snails. However, I agree with joshnemily. If your wrasse is eating other foods, why risk introducing pests into your tank? Link to comment
