They are going around the tank doing numbers on my coraline algae and terrorizing my pepermint shrimp.... They have to go...... But I tried the coke bottle with the end cut off and a piece of scallop - but the laughed at me... the hermits liked it though.... I need ideas.... anyone? Link to comment
Goofnut Posted October 7, 2002 Share Posted October 7, 2002 Well, if you don't mind waiting by the tank until they take the bait, you can make a "jungle style" trap. Take a square piece of nylon (about 4 times as big as your hermits) and tie a length of nylon thread to each corner -long enough to reach out of the top of the tank. Put a piece of bait in the middle of the trap and when the hermits gather on top of the bait, pull up on the thread so the trap snares them in the middle and then lift them out I'm not sure what fiddler crabs would like best as bait, but I'm sure someone here will have an answer to that question!
