Djm9288
Im just wondering if there are any tangs that could live in a 10g tank? I want to know of any. I saw in the members reef section there was a baby hippo tang in a 12. so i was wondering if any kind could fit in a 10. Djm Link to comment
rexxx
no way, and a baby hippo tang is just that a baby, you should give any tangs at least a 55 gal IMO. Link to comment
jay2k2
i say 35 + for a very small tang Link to comment
Sahin
Nope. Just not suitable for a 10G tank. Link to comment
Kapelakin
4 feet long minimum tank length for the smallest tangs. They need room to swim. Link to comment
Mr Spam
4 feet long tank, which is a 55g+ Link to comment
NaNO ReeFiN
10 gallons would definitely not work. Link to comment
JIM27
55g or larger is a must for any tang IMO Link to comment
Lunchbucket
i wouldn't even do a 55gal. yeah the length is there but there is no depth front to back. i think they need LARGE tanks. i have seen people w/ baby tangs in nanos and i personally would like to get a hold of them!! just because they are small doesn't mean they don't need to swim!! bastards!! fishymissy
I think a 55g is fine for most tangs. But, if the tank is just a wall of rock with very little swimming room, then no a bigger tank is needed. Keeping any potentially large fish in a very small tank is just asking for trouble. And it's the fish that ends up paying the price..... Just because someone else is doing this, doesn't mean it's right. Link to comment
Christopher Marks
Yeah, tangs *might* be able to live in a small tank, but not for very long. The stress would likely cause them to develope lateral line disease or hole in the head disease. Link to comment
tyoberg
It's best to ask what is the optimum, not the minimum. Ty Link to comment
