Wanting to start a reef tank....someone in the uk?

Heya..

I have a 3ft FOWLR tank with a dwarf lion and a SFE..

Im wanting to turn my 2ft tank (15g) into a reef tank..im wanting to keep inverts (such as stars, shrimp etc) in the tank..

My question is...What lighting will i need for low light corals such as mushrooms etc? And how much will these light(s) cost me?

The corals can be added over time, like LR, right?

Hello, nice to see a fellow UK reefer.

 

Regarding lighting, you have to decide if you want to go with T5's, Normal Output Flouros, or Metal Halide.

 

MH's will most likely cause over heating problems.

 

I have seen some good deals on T5 lighting. And just yesterday I have come across POWER COMPACT lighting for the UK market, available from online shopping.

 

IMO your better off heading for the T5 or the Poercompacts.

 

Such lighting shouldnt cost you more than £100.

 

The corals NEED to be added over time.

Live rock can be added over time, but its better to buy as much as possible first time round.
