printerdown01
If you are worried about having a background that you later wish to change or get rid of, just use paper, like lee. LFSs used to sell rolls of backgrounds (sometimes contain coral pictures or plants), often they will sell black backgrounds as well. If they do not, try using a black giftwrap paper -it has worked well for me in the past... and might again in the near future. Link to comment

lizbeth
On my fuge I applied limo tint. I'm not sure how it will hold up, time will tell. It's not quite as dark as I'd hoped, but for .99 I figured I'd try it. Link to comment
ajroahkni
I've used a sky blue latex housepaint, POURED onto the back so it's thick. Just don't let dry in the sun, as it blisters. Also, the latex adds a reasonable amount of protection on the back, as it's plastic. Sky blue. It's light, really light blue. Blue enough to be like water, light enough to not lose some fish color (I think all the fish you'll find in this light tone will be irridescent, so no need to worry about it being dark and blending out corals/fish). Sahin
I taped and covered mine with newspaper and then spray painted the rear glass. Looks fine to me. Paper and LFS backgrounds are just too fiddly etc etc etc. Link to comment
