Newbie527
(no more politcal postings from me) My question is I have tiny little white skinny star fish things in my tank. They are mostly on the rocks and rarely do I see them on the sand. the legs/arms are thin and can stretch pretty far... any ideas? Friend of foes? also these star fish that look like their legs got cut off. they are a little smaller than a dime and look like a regular star fish with stubs...??? Link to comment
Lingwendil
Do they look like a miniature brittle star? If they do, they are good, but they don't last long in a tank with fish (or most motile inverts for that matter). They feed on detritus, and hide most of the day. When I first set up my 5G, the LR I got had a dozen or so, some with an arm span the size of a quarter, most were smaller though. All of mine (along with most all LR hitchhikers in that tank) were eaten by my DEFINITELY not Reef safe hermit crab, Cladipor The Eaterest (that's his full name). (DAMN YOU CLADIPOR!) Link to comment
Newbie527
i guess they are brittle stars... they hang out near my rics and blue mushrooms...which i guess kinda goes along with my other question I posted... but thank you I kind of figured that but in this hobby guessing is not good. bravoreefer
Those would be called microstars. Just micro size starfish. I can usually find a few in my tank even when the light is turned on. Link to comment
