Personally, I think there perhaps the best PC hood out there for a 10g. But, they do cost as much as a 70watt halide retrofit that might do you more good. Link to comment

MrYenko Posted October 29, 2004 Share Posted October 29, 2004 Thats the only thing I have against Orbit hoods. I was going to get one, but the 24" I wanted cost as much as a 150w MH pendant. That trend only gets worse as you get into bigger sizes. Ive seen the orbits though, and if you HAVE TO HAVE power compact, due to heat or packaging, they're tough to beat in terms of quality. trmiv Posted October 29, 2004 Share Posted October 29, 2004 I have a CSL 2x40w hood (same as Orbit), and it's been a great hood. I modded it with a 70w hetal halide, because I wasn't happy with just 2x40w PC over my 16g. Honestly, although the fit and finish of the Orbit hood is nice, I think you would probably be happier going with either a 70w or 150w metal halide pendant with a 20K bulb. Link to comment
