duganderson
Curious what folks think are the advantages and disadvantages of a shallow reef? I'm looking at a tank that's 32-36" X 12-19" x 11-15". What do you think is the best height for a shallow mixed reef and why? Also, what are manufacturers that make shallow tanks? I've found UNS, Landen and Mr. Aqua. Quote Link to comment
mcarroll
Fish more likely to jump. Corals grow to the surface even faster. Less overall water volume. Restricted to smaller and fewer fish. Nicer top-down views. Easier maintenance. All are relative to what you're willing to do to ameliorate, tolerate and appreciate the downsides. 2 Quote Link to comment

geekreef_05
I think shallow reefs are the best tanks! Mine is 48"L , 16" W and 13" tall. Advantages: Big surface to air exposure. Good gas exchange. Super easy to work on Doesn't require super high power lights Great water flow potential Lots of space for habitat, cause its stretched out Lots of room for rockwork Quote Link to comment
