Do you us any particular lens filters? Do you rely on the aquarium light alone or are you using off camera flash in some capacity? Thank you! I specialise in insect portraits and close ups, so ordinarily I'd use a screw on Raynox close up filter. But for the aquarium photos, nope no filter was used. And with the lighting I just use the aquarium lighting itself, my camera can handle noise and low light situations quite well so it allows me to just bump the iso up a bit! 1 Quote Link to comment
Nathans_Reef
Finally got out to the beach today! I set an alarm this morning and arrived just before low tide, it was probably one of the best days I've had for rockpooling! I managed to collect so many species in the bucket, unfortunately I couldn't bring any home except for some more beadlet anemones. I managed to find so many Green shore crabs that I lost count, Prawns, Broad-Clawed Porcelain Crabs, a tiny baby Edible Crab, a Worm Pipefish, a Shanny, a hugeee chunky Rock Goby, and something that I've always wanted to find.. a little Sea Scorpion! also known as a Long Spinned Bullhead. Olympus OM-1 paired with the M.Zuiko 60mm f2.8 I'll post some more photos of the tank and anemones when they've all settled in and after a feed, something amazing happened when I added one particular anemone, it started to spit out lots of little babies! I think I counted 5 in total but currently they're not in a good place for photos which is annoying! Has anybody else experienced this with any other anemones or heard of this happening? At least we have some more now! 2 2 Quote Link to comment
Nathans_Reef
Finally a little update on the tank! So far everything is running super smoothly which is brilliant, the light isn't too powerfull so I'm not getting much algae at all! In fact I'm only just starting to see a faint green covering on the glass but I'm leaving that for the snails, except the front glass that I clean. I did get a tiny bit of brown diatoms on top of the sand a few weeks ago, but honestly I think that only lasted a few days and didn't even get to an ugly stage! I'm thinking the lack of light caused it to die off that fast? Anyway here's some shots of the tank! Each of the Beadlets seem to be growing really well, it's surprising how quickly one can double in size after eating a chunk of prawn every few days! I do still need to mix up their diet I think though, my local supermarket only had more prawns last time I checked so I'll need to go elsewhere for more. Also some of the anemones seem to fade in colour, I'm not entirely sure why this is, could it be lighting? I wouldn't have thought lighting would matter for a non-photosynthetic species but maybe it's the same sort of concept as people going paler without sunlight? maybe they're able to live without light but it's needed for their colouration. 2 2 1 Quote Link to comment
