Leather Toadstool Coral Degradation

I recently purchased a leather toadstool coral. I dipped it before placing inside the tank. Within the first few hours I noticed some slime detaching from the stalks. This morning I woke up and saw yellow polyps from three of the four stems. This evening all the polyps have disappeared from those stems and the stalks have fell. Is this unusual behaviour? It seems like 1 of the four stalks seems to still be ok.
