FishGirl77
Can anyone tell me what this is and should I be worried about the dripping coming off of the light fixture. It looks like a cloudy milky substance but maybe it’s harmless. IMG_5389.MOV Quote Link to comment
mcarroll
You should look under the hood where it's getting sprayed by your air bubbles and see what's causing it. Could just be condensed water with minerals in it. Or it could be wires corroding that shouldn't be wet. 1 Quote Link to comment
FishGirl77
Ok, I looked under the lid and everything looked good. The lights are LED and come with the tank but the bubbles I added separately so I can see why it might be spraying upwards onto the lights. I did a water change and wiped down the lid, so let’s see if that makes a difference because I agree with you about the minerals collecting and dripping off. Do you think I should prop up the lid away from the water or turn down the bubbles possibly ? Quote Link to comment
mcarroll
You could experiment with turning down the bubbles, but that will also decrease flow through the filter and flow in the tank. To some extent it could be an unavoidable problem. (It's kinda the main reason some folks used to favor powerheads for running under gravel filters. Eliminates that mess. Creates a calmer feeling tank.) What is the device making bubbles, BTW? Quote Link to comment
