We plan on getting this tank-- https://www.amazon.com/LANDEN-Filtration-15-8Wx15-8D×15-8H-40x40x40cm-Thickness/dp/B01N5VFCG5/ref=sr_1_13_sspa?crid=ISPWRGZETK4V&keywords=20+gallon+"aio"+tank&qid=1677947047&sprefix=20+gallon+aio+tank%2Caps%2C124&sr=8-13-spons&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.f5122f16-c3e8-4386-bf32-63e904010ad0&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyQlpTUFMxVVk0NFlaJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUExMDA5ODA0MTJaVVlGUFVWM0hOUyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwODI3MDcwMUJWUTBBUEVQR0I2UiZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX210ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

We would like to do two to three fish:

- live rock

- a Sexy Shrimp

- 2 Orange Clown Fish

- either a Royal Gramma or Fire Fish Goby

Would this be viable with this size tank? We are going to be setting this up and have it run monitored for a few months before stocking and want an idea of what we can put in it without overstocking. TIA!

That's an excellent stocking plan for a 20gal. You could potentially add a fourth fish at some point. Shrimpgobies are a good option.

If you want to keep corals, bear in mind that sexy shrimp may pick at them. Sexy shrimp are also very small. You might like to get some sort of cleaner shrimp, like a scarlet skunk or blood shrimp, instead.

Clownfish are semi-aggressive, so if you decide to get a firefish, which is timid, it should be added first.

I wouldn’t get the clown fish first. If they turn out to be an aggressive pair they will bully more peaceful fish to death. Mine killed two fire fish. There are many other really interesting fish for a nano. A tail spot blenny or bi- coloured blenny have so much character. There are also some really little gobies, firecracker and candy cane. 1-1.5 inches. You can have a couple.  There are a couple of small wrasse. You want to get at least 4 sexy shrimp. They live in groups. Some blue porcelain crabs are amazing. They’re filter feeders so completely safe, strawberry conch and a cleaner shrimp. Once you have your tank for a while you’ll find that the inverts are as much fun as the fist. All the best!
