Any thoughts? About a quarter-inch across, found growing on a rock that seems to have been pretty heavily shaded, as evidenced by that yellow boring sponge. I thought it was a hidden cup coral at first, but it's greenish, and seems to be shaped differently. I'm going to use this rock as a base piece, so do I need to chisel that coral off (on a chunk of rock) and keep it in the light? Or will it do well in the shadows?

(That sponge won't spread, will it? It freaks me out a little. Looks parasitic. I know it's harmless to my critters, but I don't want it anywhere I can see.)

I have one that looks like that from gulf live rock. Here’s their list:

Ah, there we go, that's got it- they have it listed as "tube coral". Wish they had Latin names; I had to go look at a list of corals in the region to figure out what species it actually is. Looks like this: https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/97902-Cladocora-arbuscula/browse_photos

Any tips on care? A quick Google didn't pull up much that would be helpful, though I did find this https://treatment.plazi.org/GgServer/html/4B4287D6FF99DC22A187FF29FEE2F9E6 saying that they're found in shallow lagoons and seagrass beds.

I'll have to try and separate it off into its own chunk, then. Looks like it's going to grow into something neat, too, if I can keep it happy. Thanks for the ID help, I wouldn't have realized this stubby lil thing was gonna grow out like that. I wonder how long it's been since it settled?

Looks like it could be a type of Dendrophylliadae (genus), but if the ID above is correct (Cladocora sp) apparently it doesn't get classified with them.  Huh.
