Hey guys, I’m sure some of you know that I had 29g, 75g, and 180g tanks with a ton of high end corals. Then, I got out of the hobby for a year long and now, I’m back with a nano peninsula tank! I chose to go with IM 14G NUVO Fusion Pro 2 Peninsula which is a very nice tank as I never had a rimless tank. I went with a smaller tank because I don’t want to do much maintenance on it. I am planning to have an orange storm & black storm clownfish with anemones along with a few corals. I hope you guys will enjoy this build!

Received the tank on Nov 11th! It was double boxed and well packaged. I’m glad to say the tank is in perfect shape with no chips and scratches on the glass. Looking forward to setting this up!

My filtration setup below (took out GFO that it came with the tank):

Added rocks, sand, and water! Let me know if you guys like my scape. I have plenty of other rocks to use, so I could change the scape again.

Nov 11: Added some bacteria in the bottle (Instant Ocean Biospira) and will keep an eye on ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels. Also, I just placed an order for an orange storm and black storm clownfish that are coming next week. Can’t wait!

UPDATE TIME!! Water parameters were looking great. A couple of days ago, I added the orange storm and black storm clownfish! Today was the day that they started eating and liking the tank.

I can’t believe how silent this tank is even when the return pump is at 100% power. I’m very happy. Now, I’m waiting on my Noo-Psyche k7 mini light to come in and start growing corals/anemone. 🙂

New update for y’all. The clownfish pair are doing well. And I finally got my Noo-Psyche K7 mini light (took almost 3 weeks) and mounted it on the tank a couple of days ago. The light looks amazing, small, and at a great price. However, I am frustrated because I have been trying to connect the light to my WiFi for multiple days with no luck.  Contacted noopsyche support and we are still finding out what is the issue. Hopefully soon!

Well…. I already got multiple anemones and corals lol. I can’t stop myself getting stuff from crazy Black Friday sales at Top Shelf Aquatics, Living Reef Orlando, and some online stores as well. I am definitely lucky that I live close by them. I bet you guys would be bankrupt if you were in my shoes haha!

I got a bunch of WWC Hawaiian Punch anemones, neon splatter hammer, zoa, monti, and bunch of inverts.

Added a nice frag rack as well.

Got these Hanna checkers: Alkalinity, Nitrate HR, and Phosphate ULR! Wanted to get accurate results.

Got a wyze camera to watch the tank while I’m away as well.

Dec 5th: Did a 50% water change yesterday. I cleaned the sand and used a turkey baster to blow detritus off the rocks as well.

Tested the water parameters today and they are a little bit higher than I would like, but it’s no big deal since I don’t have sensitive corals and no skimmer.

49AD03C4-9573-46C6-ACE3-EAAAD46E7959.jpeg

Alk - 10.8
Nitrate - 14.4 ppm
Phosphate - 0.17 ppm
Salinity - 1.025

Now, I’m excited to get some more corals in a couple of days!

Keep in mind, I know I have been adding fish and corals quickly. I only did that because I already had 4 tanks before this and I am experienced. If this is your first time, I would wait a couple of months before adding corals to get used to stabilize your water parameters and keep up with maintenance.

Going through the ugly stages now.

Dec 15th: Tested the water last night, then I did another 50% water change to clean the sand and remove excess algae floating in the water. I also got a par meter and tested the par around the tank. The Noo-Psyche K7 mini light is much more powerful than I originally thought. I had to turn it down by A LOT! Let me know if you want my results.

And my corals finally came in… (definitely some nice ones)

  • 24K Gold Torch
  • Stratosphere zoa
  • Llama Snack zoa
  • Solar Circus zoa
  • Altered Carbon zoa
  • Rainbow Rhino zoa
  • SBB Hephaestus zoa
  • Orange Eruption zoa
  • Northern Lights zoa
  • GMK zoa
  • Exospheres zoa

And I just ordered another custom nano tank with a frag tray just for fragging corals which I did not plan at all before starting this build. 🤣

Yep, I’m back!! I can’t resist this hobby lol. Thanks for the compliment. I’m near lakeland area. I will definitely increase nitrates as I don’t want to experience dinos since I had a hard time dealing with it in the past haha!

Neither can I lol I stayed away for a year lol. Oh okay, not too bad. I am a little north of Orlando is Lake Mary. I cannot wait to see this grow in though, its gonna be absolutely amazing, per usual.

I'm not 110% sure thatd what I had,but I apparently wasn't dosing enough and couldn't keep phosphates. But my nitrates stayed at 2ppm. I am dosing more and feeding more. Sps seem happy regardless.

I got some more pods, pods and live rotifers from TSA and ordered some SpongePower to hopefully encourage a diatom bloom.

What were the results on the K7 ? I want one of their dual cluster lights so bad but the need to rearrange their diode/channel layout lol I'm not a fan.

Nice to see a reefer near me! I hope I don’t need to dose to keep up with the nutrients. Let’s see if overfeeding would be enough to increase my nitrates since I’m not running a skimmer. I think it should be easy.

I also added some 2 bottles of ecopods from Algaebarn into my tank a couple of days ago!

I have never tried K7 v3 pro, but I’m impressed with the power and shimmer from k7 mini. This is coming from someone who tried high end lights such as radions, Neptune sky, and hydras. Here is my par map that I drew up for a K7 mini (I know it’s kinda messy lol). By the way, it was running at 50% whites, 50% blues, and 50% UV before I got a par meter. IT WAS OVER 400-500 PAR EVERYWHERE! I couldn’t believe that my zoas and anemones are still thriving. Definitely my mistake expecting the light to be weak. So I turned it down to 10% whites, 65% blues, and 65% UV with the results below. Let me know if you have any questions regarding the par map or the light.

Thats actually pretty crazy honestly. I cannot believe you were getting that much par. But thats actually good to know.

See,I don't have any fish yet kinda still debating on which ones I want. Either pair of Sharknose Gobies or a pair of clowns.

No skimmer for me either just poly filter, media bag with carbon and LR in the display and I cannot keep NO3/PO3. Even eith feeding the few acro frags I have every other day 2.5ml of copepod/rotifer powder I can't get NO3/PO4 above 2ppm & .01.

I have a NB retro kit in the mail coming to me that I will replace the 2 center bulbs with (will run this for about 6hrs for midday peak all channels at the same %) ,then just running a actinic blue and a super actinic and my diy supplemental bar for sunrise/sunset.

 I would love to run 2 K7 v3's and some t5's though !!!

Added IM 10W UV sterilizer to get clearer water quality since my tank is having a green bloom. Had to move my light a bit to the left to fit the UV.

Something bizarre happened today… My orange storm clownfish was being so aggressive and freaking beat the black storm to death out of nowhere even though their sizes were very noticeable. Unbelievable. That poor fish suffered and it costed me quite a bit of money. I am gonna give it a one more try to get another mate for it, but I’m only getting a cheaper designer clownfish like frostbite or something. Sigh, clownfish are the worst sometimes.

I've been looking for someone else with a 14 peninsula around here!  Excited to follow along!

I was dealing with similar issues with NO3/PO4.  As much as I wanted to be "hands off" I ended up beginning to dose neonitro/neophos with promising results so far.  One fish, heavy feedings (corals and live stock), no skimmer/chemical filtration..just filter floss.  I may end up running some carbon when necessary.

Awesome, I had a hard time finding someone else with the same tank! I will have to test my NO3/PO4 and see where they are at. I have been feeding a little bit more than I usually do. I’m waiting until the water clears up from the bloom to start testing though. I wanted to avoid dosing anything to reduce maintenance for me and the cost overall lol.

My filtration is similar to yours except I am running carbon that came with the tank and some bio balls. Can’t wait to check out your thread!
