schgr.cube
Backstory: After moving into my new house and setting up the Fiji Cube 38 Gallon Peninsula tank in my office / attic, I decided I did indeed want to have a tank in my living room. I didn't want anything large or high maintenance, so I hunted down a steal of a deal on a brand new Fluval Edge 12 gallon. The new tank ready to get set up. The goals for this tank are simple; something clean and super low maintenance to be able to enjoy where I spend the most time, and house coral I would not normally want to put in my main display tank. I have always had a soft spot for some more nuisance corals, such as Pulsing Xenia and Blue Clove Polyps, but would just never want to risk them taking over too much in the Fiji Cube. I will focus on mostly soft coral in this tank, especially mushrooms/ricordea and zoanthids. I will likely also house some LPS, but I don't think I will be doing much SPS if any. growsomething
They look really good when setup. Had a fluval edge shrimp tank, got so tired of trying to clean the underside of the top I de-rimmed it and pulled the top off. . Quote Link to comment

Yeah I am stoked for it, I think it will be a nice modern touch to the room. I do want to try to keep the top on (and clean!) as that is a major reason I got the tank! Quote Link to comment
YHSublime
I had one of these I had setup as an office tank for a few years. Mine was horizontal though, not vertical. Awesome tanks, can't wait to see what you do! Quote Link to comment

I am filling the tank up now with just sand and saltwater, I was going to do dry rock but may go grab some actual live rock for once for this guy. 1 Quote Link to comment
YHSublime
I should have just keep the anemone and clowns in there. It would have been awesome. Oh well! Quote Link to comment

It would have been awesome. Oh well! You should have! Got my hands on a used Innovative Marine Helio dual 100W heater, which I'm hoping I can stuff into the filter so the elements stay invisible. Will see when it gets here next week. Also ordered a cheap powerhead off of Amazon, but found one that comes in white. I'm not sure how well it will do, but this tank is going to just be easy coral so I'm not too worried. Once the center section of the back glass gets covered in coraline or coral, I'll move to a black powerhead if needed and let it cover with coraline too. I threw one piece of dry rock in, and may go grab some Dr. Tims Ammonia and bacteria to do another fishless cycle. I'll either throw some more dry rock in that I have, or see if the local shop has some decent live rock. Figure the tank should be ready by the new year to start adding stuff in either way. 1 Quote Link to comment
Rhetoric
I love the clean look of this tank. Quote Link to comment
schgr.cube
Well, the tank is filled, and I have rock in there. I couldn't find any live rock I liked, but I did grab some shelf rock to try something unique...I'm not sure if it's going to work or not, I have to wait until the dust settles to see if I actually like the idea or not. Filled, trying to figure out what the aquascape actually looks like.... 7 Quote Link to comment

Water has cleared up enough after me fiddling around more to get a photo. The shelf rock is epoxied to the back glass to cover the filter section, but I was kind of hoping it would cover more of it. I am likely going to grab a few smaller pieces and break them up to fill in some gaps. I'll have to leave the top as is for the filter and powerhead, unless I decide to get super creative. Initial scape. Heater is temporary, I'm still waiting on the IM heater and working on figuring out how to mount the AI Prime properly. Edit: figured out a way to mount the light temporarily for a photo, so took a better one. 1 Quote Link to comment
