Aqua Splendor
Hello, I'm doing an aquascape, I started with Stone Fix from AF and finished with Quikrete Portland Cement Type 10. My question is: What is the best way to cure those cement? Air? Freshwater? Saltwater? Oven? Both are based on portland cement but they have a different recipe so I assume the cure time/type probably varies. Quote Link to comment
seabass
It's been awhile since I've researched this topic. If I remember correctly, you let it dry in a plastic garbage bag for a few weeks (occasionally spraying some water onto the cement); this humidity helps harden the cement. Then you soak it in tap water for a few more weeks to prevent elevated pH levels in your tank. To check to see if it is ready, place the cement/rock in some new water for a few days, and test to make sure that pH of the water is under 9. 1 Quote Link to comment
Aqua Splendor
Ah interesting you say this. I'm actually doing a hybrid way, waited 3 day for the cement, than clean under tap water all the dust, and I'm currently as we speak, spraying water to get it humid. I don't know even know why I'm doing, just an instinct reaction. I'm wondering if my pH probe read correctly under freshwater, never pay attention to this details hmmm thx! Quote Link to comment
