Kinda vague question but in the nano size say 5-30 gallons id go with the innovative marine all in one style tanks (IM TANKS). Very nice tanks and good price point.  For beginner more water is better.  I'd go at least 10 gallons plus..

There are so many to choose from, some better than others.  I would look and see what you like, but I would def suggest an all-in-one.  They give you just about everything you need to start, and you can upgrade in time.  Go to the journals and look around at what people have done with their tanks.
