Hi everyone, this forum is a wealth of info. Thank you for that.  I am starting a 22g reef tank. Photos and details to follow. Guidance is much appreciated.

Cycling with 20 lbs kpaqatics live rock. Not their premium in water but their base option as their premium was out of stock. Also added 20 lbs of live commercial sand.

Welcome to the forum.  You are correct about the amount of info here.  What are your stocking plans for the tank?

Currently troubled whether to add a filter sock or a skimmer.

I used a filter sock only for the first couple of weeks during set up. Then I put carbon and filter floss in the media basket in chamber one. You may or may not need a skimmer on this tank depending on your livestock, feeding routine, and maintenance schedule. Many people manage their tanks with water changes.

Thank you for your replies. Managed to add a hammer coral and a peppermint shrimp.  From my newbie research the hammer corals don't necessarily need to be fed? The research on peppermint shrimp is for the most part they are reef safe? I only have zoas, gsp and the hammer currently. Also, is this critter reef safe? 2nd photo. Thanks you.
