Cjpow’s IM Fusion Peninsula

Hi guys,

My names Craig and I’ve kept salt water aquariums for the best part of 12 years, I’ve been a member on here since 2015 but this is my first post! I’ve always been lurking as I’ve always had an interest in nano aquariums, perhaps as it takes me back to my first aquarium.

I’m in the last stages of shutting down my DD 1200 that has been running for the last 3 years, I’ve really enjoyed this tank but I live in a really old house without central heating and to be honest, it’s absolutely ruining the room!

This is a picture of it in its prime;

So, onto this tank.

It’s a Innovative Marine peninsula, originally I wanted to set it up in a location that allowed its purpose of viewing but i found it wouldn’t look right in the room so for now, it’s against a wall.

So far, spec’s are;

AI Hydra 26 HD.

Fluval 100w heater.

IM mighty jet return fitted with the RFG nozzle.
Maxspect Bio media

Alkatronic for Kh control

D-D P4 pro with Reef Zelements 2 part.

When setting up the tank I seeded the media in my old tank for a few weeks and supplement this weekly with TM Nitribiotic.

I transferred over some of my most loved corals from my old system and moved on the rest, this will primarily be SPS dominant but some LPS has been chosen.

Branching Cyphastrea

PC Rainbow

Rainbow Millipora

Green Poccilapora

Blueberry Digi

Burning Banana Stylocoeniella
Fungia

True Phoenix Montipora

Rainbow Phoenix Montipora

Raja Rampage Challace

Holy Grail Torch

Slow Burn Montipora

1 Darwin clown

Flame Hawkfish (Not added yet)

I do have other fish I can add but I don’t want to push my luck too much atm.

Ultimatly I’m not decided if I’ll be keeping the encrusting Montipora at this stage, they can become a bit of a pain as they grow. But for now they can stay.

Tank is going through the uglies at the mo so I’ll add some better quality images in due course.

Wow your old tank was beautiful.  I sure this one will be as well.

Cheers mate, we will see!

Added two wild mini colonies today, always interested how they turn out, as you can see the tanks in full ugly mode at the moment.

Starting to win the battles with the Dinos, I’ve bought one of the IM 9watt UV’s that seems to be helping along with manually scrubbing the rocks and stirring the sand. I’m also dosing TM Nitrobiotic once a week. Ive put a hold on water changes for now.

I’ve lost a fair bit of colour on my corals but I’m not overly concerned at this stage, it’s to be expected with a new tank.

The other week I bought two indo mini colonies but one RTN’d over night unfortunately. Maricultured stuff is always hit or miss for me but it’s not so painful on the wallet with the mini colonies and I always find it exciting to see how they turn out.

Good luck with the new. set up. Interesting scape, makes the tank look even longer!

Thanks!

I decided to go with a low flat rock structure just mainly for ease of coral placement.

Thought I would add some pictures of my individual corals, they are lacking colour at the moment from the tank move but it’s good to document progress.

Ive not ID’d this acro but was a maricultured piece so I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Tank is looking super happy at the mo, all algae has cleared up and consumption of Reef Zelements Is going up.

I’ve fitted a weir guard I picked up from Aquaprint, I had to modify the mount a little as it wasn’t for my model of tank but works a treat. Should stop my Hawkfish sitting there and sending my ATO mad.

I may have to give my HG Torch a trim soon, it’s getting a bit wild for a small tank.

I also went to Krakna frag meet on the weekend that was nice to catch-up with reefing buddy’s. Picked up a frag of Rainbow Millipora, WD and an ARC Fireworks.

Awesome looking tank! How do you like the alkatronic?

It’s really good, saved my but a few times! It relys heavily on good calibration but you soon get used to it. I wouldn’t run a tank without it now!

Nipped to my LFS for a few more snails and picked up a couple of frags.

Dealing with a bit of algae and cyano again at the mo, think it’s down to a recent fish death. Things swing fast in a nano!
