InAtTheDeepEnd
Took two of my frags off their plugs today.... But they've retracted and about an hour later still not come out. 😠Will they be ok or are they damaged irretrievably? I literally worked them off with my thumb, they came off easily.   😞 😞 😞   Quote Link to comment

jservedio
I always take all my corals off frag plugs before gluing them down and generally the easier they are to remove, the faster they will recover from the operation. If the coral has been encrusting on the plug for a few months and I have to cut or dremel the coral off, it takes longer to recover. If it pops off like you are describing, a few days is pretty normal for it to be mad. Â That said, those frags are covered in hair algae, so that is probably why they are mad. When you remove corals from a plug, you should take that opportunity to clean them up since you are already handling them and probably out of the water. 1 Quote Link to comment
