Hair algae?

Been running for 2 months. Is this normal? 

Went through the green algae stage and now this appears.

Chrysophytes I believe, I had them when my tank was new as well. For 2 months I wouldn't be too worried. If you don't have any snails/crabs at this point i'd start adding them slowly

5 gallon, 3 hermit crabs.

add a half dozen total of various snails, should definitely help. margarita, trochus, turbo, cerith etc

Hermits won't kill them?

I just hate how snails try to escape lol. 

Used to find them on the outside of the tank.

Skip the hermits IMO.  I would also not add that many snails at one time.   I would add one and see how it goes.   At most add 2 or 3 if all they have are really small snails.  See how that goes for at least a week before you try to add more.   If/when you add more, only add one more (or 2 or 3 if they are very small again).  Repeat as often as needed until there are just enough snails and not more – and for the best experience, don't go any faster than I mentioned in adding them.  Waiting up to a month between additions wouldn't be waiting too long.

I already have the 3 hermit crabs. Might go with some type of snail. I'll see what my lfs has.

See if they'll trade you snails for hermits.
