Cycling a 5 gallon

So, I started this tank last week. Converted it from freshwater to saltwater. Kept the bio media from freshwater washed the tank and filled it up with premixed salwater with an sg of 1.024.

Ghost feeding for about a week, with the semi live rock I got from my lfs lol.

Ammonia is almost non-existent. Maybe small traces. As for filter media I have carbon, small pouch of bio media and will be adding purigen with some floss. Do I bump up the ghost feeding?

The bio media from freshwater will not help with saltwater.

Purigen should not be added during a cycle and only used as needed.

Ghost feeding is an unreliable method for cycling. You can't determine how much to add to produce the correct ammonia level to start the cycle and get it processing.

Its also a dirty method of cycling. Adds a lot of waste to the tank

With dry rock cycling, the most accurate and clean method of cycling is using Dr Tim's Ammonia and biospira

If you don't want to wait an exceptionally long time nor play the guessing game, I would ditch the ghost feeding method

I figured maybe the the bacteria would change quicker. Was just guessing.

Purigen will go in as you said as needed... Later on. I can't find biospira around here for some reason.

Dr Tim's AND  biospira or either or?

Both.

Dr tims ammonia adds ammonia(directions need to be followed)

Biospira is a bacteria supplement and considered the best one.
