Should lights be off the first day?

Brought 2 Firefish home today, and acclimated them to a new tank. They came out for a few hours, then the light came on and they are hiding. There are lots of hiding and shaded options for them.

I do not have a dimming option. Should I turn the lights off for the day?20210831_135220-01.thumb.jpeg.ef26603e70740f1e84f0576618ba6fef.jpeg

IMHO, the lights have to be on eventually.

Better if you can reduce them and gradually increase.

Thx. It's kind of an on or off situation. Might try turning the arm so the full blast isnt directly on the tank, but idk..

Its completely normal behaviour in fish.

Its a new environment. They probably feel more secure in the dark than in the light.

They are skittish fish. Once they realize they are safe they will slowly come out more.

They’re one of my favorites too! I have one, my first ever saltwater fish. He’s over three years old now, been a trooper.

Just give them some time, they’ll be out.
