Using garlic extract?

Do those of you who use garlic extract just use it when a fish is sick or do you use it all of the time even when things are healthy?

I only use it when they have been sick, are under stress (something died in the tank, moved into a new tank, etc.), or have recently had a parasite problem (such as Ich). In the case of Ich, I continue with the garlic for a full 30 days, to hopefully interrupt the parasite's life cycle.

 

Otherwise, I stick to Selcon, as the highly-unsaturated fatty acids are an essential part of their diet, where garlic is not.
