Regular or activated carbon?

Welcome to Nano-Reef.com.  What do you mean by regular carbon.  Carbon as a chemical filter media is always activated carbon.  It adsorbs meds, dissolved organic compounds, reduces odors, and makes water clearer.  Chemical media isn't always required, but many people do use it regularly.

Replacing charcoal (and other stuff) in a Fluval C-3 filter and the online catalog has regula and activated charcoal bags.

Thanks. I'll just go with activated.
