Dave MN Nano
When you do a water change do you vacuum your sand bed? Mr. Saltwater Aquarium says it is better not to disturb it as it will cause nutrients to spike. I don't know if that makes sense? Wouldn't it be better to vacuum and get that stuff out of the tank???? 1 Quote Link to comment
dwdenny
Every time I vacuum the sand. Gets everything that CUC doesn’t out of the tank. I usually do waters changes once a week or so. Quote Link to comment
DSFIRSTSLTWATER
You can vacuum it. When i had sand i would skim the top to get any big pieces and then I would just stir the sand bed once a week. Quote Link to comment
DSFIRSTSLTWATER
Side note to answer the question about not touching the sand bed, that's kinda true if you have a deep sand bed or if your tank is years old and you never stirred it or vacuumed it. Then don't touch it. 1 Quote Link to comment
Clown79
I always vacuumed the sand but if you never have, its best to start with small sections with each water change. 4 Quote Link to comment
Murphs_Reef
I always turn mine. Infact I just took 50% out this week washed it and put it back.... If you haven't disturbed it for a long time I wouldn't go mad.. maybe work on a wee bit at a time but yeah I think it should be clean up and down... 3 Quote Link to comment
