Troubles setting up fluval PS2

Hi everybody.

having trouble setting up the PS2 skimmer. Water/bubbles does not seem to rise up into the top chamber. Help much appreciated. Thank you! 
also the lid seems to want to come off every 2 seconds.

Check out this video.  When I set mine up, I left the top screw open all the way for the first 2 days and adjusted the large main knob so the water level was just below where the cup meets the base making about pea sized bubbles.  Then I adjusted like in the video and use the air screw to fine tune for wet/dry skimming.
