Can anyone help Identify what this is on my Hammer??

Hello all! Moving this little guy around the other day I noticed this maroonish brown looking worm of some sort attached to the base of my Hammer coral. The coral does not seem to be showing any signs of distress but this item does look like it doesn’t belong . 
 

Would anyone have any tips on removing it and what it may be exactly?

Looks like a vermetid snail.....scrape the entire thing off or smother it with superglue.

I have that same thing on a new hammer I have. I wonder if it's worth it to break it off and re glue it

It will spread if you don't remove it, but it won't hurt anything if you leave it.
