DocReef
Anyone know what type of Goby this is? Sold as a Circus Goby, but doesn't look like it and behaves more like a Griessingei goby. Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Looks like a *type of circus goby. I have a circus barred goby - he honestly looks exactly like that, without the spots on the edges of the fins. Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Okay, I found a pic of your goby online: But the site lists it as a 'circus barred goby' as well (Priolepsis nocturna). Could be simply a variation in pattern due to the area it was collected from. Snow_Phoenix
Another variation in marking shown online (pic from Google) : Mine looks like this (pic from Google) : They all seem to share the same scientific name though. 🤷♀️ ^Hope this helps. 1 Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
Your goby reminds me of my hasselts goby. So adorable. Maybe it is related? This is my hasselts. 1 Quote Link to comment

Maybe one of the pics is misidentified? Unless it changes from a juvi? 1 Quote Link to comment

This looks to be a closer match to the OP's pic than my circus barred. Cute goby though! 😊 1 Quote Link to comment

I think this is it. I looked at other pictures of Hasselts Gobies and it looks just like it. I had it narrowed down to Callogobious sp. but wasn't sure on the specific type. Thank you so much. Tired
Yeah, that happens a lot with the really cryptic fish. Make sure your tank has plenty of places for fauna to grow- if it's much like a hasselts, it'll eat every bug it can find. And keep a close eye on its mouth size compared to any tankmates, if that flaming prawn goby in your icon will be in the same tank. Quote Link to comment
