Api Vs Red sea testing

Does anyone have any idea why my red sea tests show 0 for my ammonia but my api master kit shows .25 - .50ppm on them?

I assume I'm doing something wrong but then again, I've been using red sea for 3 years and this hasn't exactly happened to me before.

( p.s, this was due to black spots appearing on my tomatoe clownfish i have )

Clowns get black spots when hosting corals.

Black ich  is very uncommon

I have never had false positives using api  ammonia.

Age of kit may effect results and definitely  if you aren't timing the results that would be an issue.

You have to read the results at 5 mins, as the bottle sits the colour will change. Reading the results in natural light and against the white card is important

API does that for ammonia

The only worse test than ammonia for them is pH

If you have clowns and ammonia in the same tank

Get one of the SeaChem Ammonia badges

You really only need to know what ammonia is doing if you are starting a cycle on a new tank. Ex dosing ammonia

I just ordered a couple. If you have fish and ammonia in your tank, something is wrong.  And probably should have Prime on hand
