BriefReef
Hello, Recently setup a 16g Biocube and found a clownfish that I really liked the look of. Added it to the tank last night and is doing well. For future plans of possibly pairing, is this a percula or ocellaris clownfish? or other? It was only listed as "premium clownfish" at the pet store and the employee was not sure. Thanks in advance! Quote Link to comment
I'm Batman
Could be wrong but to me it looks like an ocellaris. The only way I can tell is the ocellaris has a happier looking face 🙃 Quote Link to comment
jservedio
The only way to tell is to count the spines on the dorsal fin - if it's got 11 spines, its an ocellaris. If it has 10, it's almost certainly a percula (ocellaris can rarely have 10). If it has 9, it's definitely a percula. 1 Quote Link to comment
Thefishgolfer
Im pretty sure that's an Ocellaris. Only way I can tell though is how thin the black outlines are. The only way to tell for sure is to count the dorsal spines. Here is a nice Website I found, https://www.ocellarisclownfish.com/difference-between-ocellaris-and-percula-clownfish/ Quote Link to comment
