antigonus
I got a small purple montipora frag two weeks ago, I really want to get it to grow over my top rock, it seems to be healthy, the polyps are out, and the edges seem whiteish which I have read is a sign of growth. What conditions are best to promote healthy montipora growth? right now its getting a fair amount of light, and moderate flow, nitrates are around 2, and Ph. is 8.3. I'm not dosing anything, but right now this is my only piece of hard coral. Is there anything I should change/do differently to create the optima conditions? Quote Link to comment
Clown79
Is it an encrusting, a monti cap, or digitata? All 3 grow at different rates and not much you can do to get it yo grow faster besides stability, proper lighting, and flow 1 Quote Link to comment
antigonus
Its a cap as far as I know, I got it from the frag tank at my LFS. Quote Link to comment
Clown79
I didn't do anything special and my konti grew really fast. It was up higher in the tank but it wasn't intense lighting. It grew very quickly once it started growing. I feed my tank 1 time a week with reef roids and waterchanges. 1 Quote Link to comment
antigonus
Ok cool. That's basically what I'm doing now. Quote Link to comment
This guy is extra salty
Montiporas tend to like their magnesium a little on the high side. (They’re more vibrant) 1 Quote Link to comment
