Recommended Posts

HI guys.

So I just collected a few live rocks from my friend's mature saltwater aquarium.

but when I brought it home, I notice there is a small coral on it.

I need help to identify what coral this is so that I can look up more on the coral and how to keep it healthy :):)

Where did you get the rocks? As in, what part of the world.

Also, you should really look up if it's legal to collect coral and live rock in your area. Many places don't allow it, or only allow it with a permit.

Oh, I just saw you said from your friend's aquarium. I thought you said it was for his aquarium.

It looks a bit like a zoanthid polyp, but the shape of it is odd. Do you see any other polyps on the rock, and does your friend have any similar corals? You may need to just keep ahold of it for a little while and let it grow, to see what it is.

As long as it's extended, it's in acceptable light and water. You could try moving it into brighter light to see if it likes that.
