Removing large amounts of coraline

Hey all, quick question.  I recently decided I didn't like how a full back wall of coraline looked in my tank so I did a nice cleaning and scraped the full back wall off.  The problem is, my tank doesn't seem to be as stable now that I've removed all of it.  Has anyone experienced this before?

Coralline is the pretty much signs of a good established tank and a  result of high calcium and magnesium.

I would assume if you scrape it - it shouldnt have any negative effects. Did you scrape enough to harm the clarity or quality of the water?

Are you testing no3, po4, alk, ca, and mg?

If there was a change you should be able to detect it in testing....a reduction in usage of the Big 3: alk, ca and mg would be predictable.....maybe a noticeable reduction in no3 and po4 usage too.
