Successfully grow macroalgae and reduce nitrates. What type(s) of macroalgae are you growing inside your Light Reactor? Sea lettuce (Ulva) and unknown red algae. How often are you harvesting macroalgae? Once every two weeks to measure growth.Did you observe anything, positive or negative, during testing that surprised you? Our nutrient levels became more stable. We have a 2,000-gallon system, though, so a larger reactor would be required to make a substantial difference. Have you noticed a reduction in nuisance algae since using the Light Reactor? Yes.Talk about your impressions of the light inside the reactor. Do you feel the spectrum is optimal? The light is great. The macroalgae grew well. Please share your light schedule and why you have it set up that way. The lights come on at 8 am and shut off at 8 pm. Partially because the timer that we were using was on 12-hour intervals, but we wanted max growth anyways.Have you adjusted the intensity of the light at any point along the way? How come? I increased the light as time went on to observe changes in growth in response to the light increase. If you've ever run a refugium in one of your aquariums, how would you compare the Light Reactor in terms of advantages or disadvantages? Is one superior to the other? Far superior. The concentrated lighting with high enough flow was much better than our previous tank refugium setup. How easy or difficult was it to get started? Easy. There were instructions, but I figured it out myself. What is the one thing you like most about the Reef Octopus Light Reactor? It did its job and was simple in its design.Would you recommend the Reef Octopus Light Reactor? Yes!
